François Dumartheray (1924-1981), avocat issu d’une famille vaudoise protestante et conservatrice, était un membre actif d’associations étudiantes et de jeunesse, puis du Parti du Travail. Ayant commencé sa carrière militante au GES (Groupement d’Etudes Socialistes) à l’Université de Genève, il s’engage également en tant que secrétaire au sein du comité suisse d’organisation du Festival Mondial de la Jeunesse et participe à la coordination de la délégation suisse pour plusieurs éditions du Festival. Son activité se poursuit au sein du Parti du Travail.
