Membre du Groupe pour une Suisse sans armée (GSsA) depuis les années 1990. Il est permanent de la section genevoise du GSsA. Il évoque son retrait de ce groupe en 2010, à l'occasion du lancement d'une initiative sur la suppression de l'obligation de servir à laquelle il est opposé (Journal de SolidaritéS, n°167, 30 avril 2010). Il quittera effectivement le GSsA pour cette raison (Le Courrier, 30 août 2013).
Membre de l'Association Survivre aux Pâquis (SURVAP). Membre du mouvement SolidaritéS.
Député au Grand Conseil de la République et canton de Genève de 1993 à 2001 (Alliance de Gauche). Il tire un bilan de son action parlementaire dans le Journal de SolidaritéS, n°128 (Premier juin 2001).
